HDFC Bank statement password: account and credit card
HDFC Bank account statements open with your customer ID. Card statements use the first four letters of your name in capitals plus the card's last four digits.

Your customer ID is the number you use to log in to HDFC Bank NetBanking. This format is reported by ClearTax; the email that carried your statement confirms it.
Credit card statements

In a reply to a customer, HDFC Bank said the name to use is the one on the statement, not the one embossed on the card. For some recently reissued cards it gave the date of birth as DDMM instead of the card digits: RAHU0503 for someone born on 5 March (HDFC Bank's reply).
If it still won't open
- Capitals.

ANUT. - The wrong statement type. Account and card statements use different formats. Check which one you have.
- Read the email. HDFC Bank's statement emails say which format applies.
- Download it again from NetBanking or the HDFC Bank app if the email is lost.
Make an unlocked copy
Loan apps and tax filing often need the statement without a password. Once you know it:
- Open Remove Password and choose the statement.
- Type the password once.
- Download the unlocked copy. The statement is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
